Until We Meet Again
I found out this afternoon that a dear friend passed away last night leaving her husband, and 4 kids...her 4th child being delivered after her death. Wendy Kimball Mack and I met when she moved in next door to me as a young child. We instantly became great friends. We spent time playing in the canals, eating egg sandwiches on her front porch, and playing Strawberry Shortcake (I was always envious of how many she had). She introduced me to eating pumpkin seeds, and she even tried to get me to eat cat food once. Lots of hours were spent jumping on the trampoline, playing night games, riding bikes, playing in the fields, chasing boys in preschool, and being chased, school programs, reminiscing in high school about our awkward younger years, studying for tests, watching old home videos together and laughing every time she would put a rubber band around her cheeks like a cabbage patch kid....I just happened to teach my kids how to do that last week...I demonstrated to them how she would always say "I got chubby cheeks"...I can still her her say it and it still makes me laugh. We were great friends all growing up. She was one of the kindest, and selfless people I know. She was spunky, had a beautiful laugh and loved the Gospel. Wendy came into the MTC a week after I entered and so we were able to spend some time together while we learned to preach the Gospel. My heart goes out to her husband and 4 children. I know that they are going to be comforted during this hard time and I know that it is going to be a long road. Until we meet again dear friend.
